Silk was first found by the Yellow Emporer's wife. Silkworms were eating the leaves off the mulberry trees in the emporers garden. His wife went to look at the trees when she noticed that when the silkworms stopped eating, they spun a shiny and beautiful cocoon. She then opened the cocoon and discovered that threads could be unwound from the cocoon. Later, the Chinese learned how to twist the fibers into thread and make it into a beautiful, shiny cloth. Some things that silk can make are: beautiful garments, curtains, and upholstry.During the second centry B.C., the Great Silk Road was made. There, the Chinese traded their silk.
